Ramadan & Eid

Welcome to Ramadan!

The Prophet (SAWS) said: When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed and the devils are chained. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Another beautiful Hadith quotes that “Whoever stands (in the voluntary night prayer of) Ramadan out of faith and in hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)”.

We at OCIF are delighted to welcome you to another beautiful month of Ramadan! Allah-willing, each one of us will be able to participate in a full month of fasting and pray for Allah’s mercy and blessings.

Here is what to expect during this month in OCIF.

1- The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California announced that the Fiqh Council of North America (www.fiqhcouncil.org/) determined the beginning of the lunar months including the months of Ramadan and Shawwal. The Fiqh Council uses Makkah al-Mukarrama as a conventional point and takes the position that the conjunction must take place before sunset in Makkah and moon must set after sunset in Makkah.

On the basis of this method the dates of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr for the year 1437 AH are established as follows:

1st of Ramadan will be on Monday, June 6, 2016

1st of Shawwal “Eid-U-Fitr will be on Wednesday, July 6, 2016

2- OCIF and the Mission Viejo Police Department are working together to improve the compliance and traffic flow during the month of Ramadan. The Police department will enforce the rules strictly, so please follow the rules specified in the flier .
